The error in the log is:

Setting up libpam-runtime (1.1.1-2ubuntu5.3) ...
debconf: DbDriver "config": /var/cache/debconf/config.dat is locked by another process: Resource temporarily unavailable
dpkg: error processing libpam-runtime (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Please post the output of these two commands run from a terminal:

sudo fuser -v /var/cache/debconf/config.dat
pstree
