FYI: The solution Debian implemented was quite trivial. Simply create the file /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/libsasl2-modules: \w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ [._[:alnum:]-]+: DIGEST-MD5 common mech free
It doesn't actually fix the problem, it just ignores the pointless log messages.
