I just downgraded back to cups1.2.0 using the script provided at bug 45099.
Since I cannot enable browsing on the server I tried to add the recommended raw / queue.

Trying to print a testpage I got the usual:
Queue "/usr/lib/cups/backend/http failed"
So this doesn't seem to work for me.
