Sorry, I was not clear enough.

In a previous comment the fix was "released" in cups 1.3.9-2ubuntu6 or
such but the package is nowhere to be found. In Intrepid I still have
1.3.9-2. I even changed to a different mirror but I don't get the
updated package.
