3) What you expected to happen
print test pages would at least work
4) What happened instead
jobs end in state "pending", once, a job even came until state "processing", but not one sound on my printer (which still works fine under Windows"
5) some extra info, hope that helps:
- tried to create "new" printer via system>>administration>>printing>>server>>new>>printer
(i) Canon LBP2900 directly as USB
(ii) Canon Printer Daemon Port #1
- tried to use different "workarounds" as suggested on
(i)http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1143439
(ii)https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsPrinters/CanonPrinters/Canon_LBP_2900 with "/etc/init.d/cups" instead of "/etc/init.d/cupsys"
those workaround instructions seem outdated, now CANON drivers shipping with *.deb installation packages that correctly setup FIFOs, but in theory, the AppArmor setting was an additional setting ... yet no effect.
I have been trying now for 2-3 weeks. But before this very bugreport, I removed cups,canondrivers,... via "aptitude remove" and "dpkg -r" and reinstalled everything anew.
please find attached the console output as suggested:
