Looking at other bugs for this package, I suspect that this is caused by the recent change in user privilege handling in CUPS.

Can you try the following from a terminal:

sudo chmod +s /usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf

Then restart CUPS.

Does this fix it for you?
