Bug Description
While updating via update manager from Dapper to Edgy the process stopped with a problem related to courier-auth that was qualified as incoherent ; trying all apt-get commands cannot clean the mess ; Thought basically the update was kind of completed (booting and logging possible) I have to go to a full installation process as up-grade of packages is no more possible !
Regards.

I think the main philosophy when migrating from one Distro (here dapper) to the next one (here Edgy) is to avoid at any rate to re-install and this is a difficult challenge especially when there are many changes, but for the user it saves a lot of trouble.
Of course the safe and only way to go is the update manager but when a bug is already reported it would be neat when executing it to get first a list of known bugs with solutions ; such a list wouls be updated from users experience ; here I got the courier-auth bug but could net get around it ; should I have known the bug I would have removed the courier-* packages at first ; I had to make a fesh installation.
See bug #64615 for possible solutions.
