Hello,

as far as I understand, this bug occured to Vitaliy Kulikov when removing couchdb (AptOrdering: couchdb: Purge). In this case, this bug also affects me.

I installed couchdb, and used it for a while. I uninstalled it once using the "complete removal" feature of Synaptic. After that I re-installed couchdb, and everything went OK.

I want to remove completely it again, but now when use the Synaptic's "complete removal" feature it fails with an error message:
E: couchdb: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

I am able to remove the package only after rebooting Ubuntu. However, even if I remove completely couchdb, when I re-install it the configuration stays the same. In fact couchdb does not start in Admin Party mode and even if my old user admin does not appear in http://127.0.0.1:5984/_utils/database.html?_users , I can login. That is not what I expect, and I suspect couchdb configuration files were not completely removed by Synaptic.

I purged couchdb through command line (sudo apt-get purge couchdb) with the same results: when couchdb has been started during the session, the purge ends with the same error Synaptic returns, and when couchdb was not started (after an Ubuntu reboot) couchdb is removed but configuration files are not.

Does anyone have any idea?
