Using an hex editor, the new error strings (such as "did not fail ? after %d attempts") show up in the binary of console-kit-daemon.

"which console-kit-daemon" returns the proper location (/usr/sbin), so there should not be any conflict (like multiple binaries, who knows!)

Probably not a packaging issue then.
