@ Anthony Long: I have an ATI Radeon X1250 (RS690M chipset), so I don't have the nvidia driver installed.

This bug still exists on my computer and appears almost every time since the last kernel update! Only workaround right now is to completely shutdown, start again and hope that it works this time. Log in and out does not work for me, restart doesn't work either!

Maybe the importance should be set to critical since it makes the system unusable?
