I think that you have to check what plugins are present in your configuration.
Launch gconf-editor and look for the key: /apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins

and look if the following plugins are listed:

gconf, decoration, wobbly, fade, minimize, cube, rotate, zoom, move, resize, scale, switcher, screenshot

Surely you miss the 'move' plugin.
