Bug 428769 is suppose to fix compiz so that it can run on a 2048x1152 monitor. People had no problem running lucid on this size monitor if they used Metacity. So you above comment, "Given the choice between someone not being able to use their computer at all and someone not being able to use compiz we've chosen the second option," holds no credence.

And, if the bug is fixed, it should also fix my problem. Iim using the same Intel board that the Bug 428769 user is using - So, this is not a driver issue. Actually, I have doubts that you have fixed the problem - There are no comments, after the change, stating such,
