I've recently upgraded to Ubuntu 9.01 Jaunty. My graphics card is '01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] (rev 02)'
Since upgrading, there has been a mysterious rectangle in the top right corner of my screen, below the clock.
It's transparent, showing the desktop through it, with a shadow as appears around windows.
It appears on boot, disappears when Visual Effects is turned off, and does not reappear when Visual Effects is turned back on -- But reappears after reboot.
In the attached screenshot, it looks as if it's associated with the panel - it's not. When the panel is moved out of the way, the rectangle persists -- it is unrelated to the panel.
Binary package hint: compiz
