Another thing probably related to this (so I didn't raise a new bug) and easy to reproduce:

If you you have a few windows open on the desktop, say firefox, terminals, nautilus etc, then lock the screen by clicking the menu on the top right panel or ctrl+alt+L.

Now plug in a USB memory stick. On my machine, all my windows appear on top of the screen saver, including the newly opened nautilus window that pops up for the memory stick. I'm just using a blank screen for the screen saver.

This is on a fresh default Maverick x86 install, with default desktop effects enabled (set to normal mode on the dialog).

As mentioned earlier, this has privacy and security implications. To see someone's locked desktop, all you need to do is plug in a memory stick.
