I use the same workaround as jdeslip :
Launch gnome-session-properties, uncheck gnome-wm, and add compiz as a new program.

Compiz isn't the first program launch so AvantWindowNavigator displays a warning because composing isn't available for a very short time until compiz realy start. It works great after that.
