For me it happens all the time I open a new window: Firefox takes the whole screen (window title bar and gnome main bar disappear & and Firefox menu shows really on top of the screen; gnome task bar disappears & Firefox status bar shows in bottom of the screen).
I have "Extra" Visual Effects in "Appearance" configuration.
Using Ubuntu 8.10 in a MacBookPro and in a HP laptop, both Fresh Installs.
Doesn't happen in a desktop pc with dual screen, where visual effects are disabled. And in any case, only happens to Firefox window.
Pressing F11 twice is a solution, but it's really annoying...
If someone needs more information, please tell me.
