Ok, as I understand by reading the last post in Bug #108527, I should report this issue seperately as several different problems may cause identical bugs. Hence, no one else should confirm this bug! Please correct me if I am wrong.
My issue is the same as many others though, that is, my computer freeze randomly when Compiz is enabled on my ATI X300SE. Some keypoints are:
- My built-in Intel i986 (or something like that) works fine. Only freeze when Compiz is enabled.
- I have a DESKTOP computer with an ATI X300SE on an PCI-e interface.
- I'm using the open driver.
- When freezing occur, it often happens in the middle of some animation (menu fade etc). The animation freeze, often with some artifact or missing graphics, etc.
- Mouse cursor still moves, music still plays (for a while).
- When I don't use the computer, or if I am only using it to watch some movie, the freezes occur less frequently. Actually, so far, I haven't seen it freeze any single time while not activelly using the computer (clicking stuff, moving windows etc)
I have other Ubuntu computers in my network so I guess I could do some remote debugging, but I have never done that before so I'm not sure how to do it and what to look for...
