as of today nvidia works again on my machine (i'm hypothesizing some
kind of sustained kernel module mismatch or something, as there've been
frequent updates). Tried compiz with various configurations and saw the
same memory leak & general performance degradation as before. disabling
the cube had no effect, still saw the same problems; but disabling the
ring switcher thereafter seems to have fixed the problem (i'll leave it
up for a day or so to confirm). i'm very sorry about that as the ring
switcher is about the only effect that i really really like in compiz (i
want to like zoom, too, but am having trouble finding a use for it).
travis, should i file a different bug against the ring switcher?
