i strongly suggest all users experiencing this problem to voice their concern to nvidia, rather than to ubuntu.

nvnews is a great place for this, as nvidia staff monitor it. Several nvidia staff have already replied to an ongoing thread, but have not been able to reproduce the problem. If we can help them reproduce it, we can possibly get this resolved.

The more that respond and voice concern, the higher nvidia will make it a priority, hopefully.
