…flatpak may not be the source problem but it seems to bring something that helps highlighting the problem… ( I suspect some gnome-related parameters ).

I assume some other ppa's as well can bring the same problem, maybe by comparing them we could narrow down a culprit ?

I can also confirm that once the problem surfaces it affects all the users on the machine ( ubuntu 16.04 unity here ).
