Bug Description

Hi,

From last time I use Chromium DEV PPA for Ubuntu and all GPU options work fine.
Now after two or one latest update all GPU options in chrome:gpu is disabled - I have only software mode, not like before hardware accelerated. Only software...

I try enable it but I can.

I try log my browser in terminal:

"

I have error.

"x@x-Aspire-7551:~$ vainfo
libva info: VA-API version 0.38.0
libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so
libva info: va_openDriver() returns -1
vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit
x@x-Aspire-7551:~$ "

Im trying symlink like here: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Trusty_Installation_Guide#Test_VA-API_Acceleration

by commend:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/va/drivers/fglrx_drv_video.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so

but also not working. Still vaapi error and still chromium hw not working.

I use Ubuntu 15.10 x64 and use fglrx from proposed repository (this with fix for force gcc4 and new kernel )

If vainfo can't load the driver, then Chromium HW acceleration will definitely not work.

I know I'm late to the party, but this is a bug in the fglrx driver, and can be rectified as far as vainfo is concerned with a fix listed here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer-updates/+bug/1442921

TL;DR:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libXvBAW.so.1.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so

This will point vainfo to the correct driver, but it's unclear to me whether this will actually affect H/W acceleration at all.
