checkgmail won't let me log in even with correct info

I am using Oneiric Ocelot, Ubuntu 11.10.
The version is 13+svn43-2fakesync1.
I entered my correct username and password. I expected to be able to log into GMail, and was able to before the latest "update."
Now, I cannot login. I get the error window.

There is a workaround for this problem:
download checkgmail.patch

then
sudo apt-get install patch
sudo patch /usr/bin/checkgmail /PATH/TO/checkgmail.patch

replacing /PATH/TO with the correct path to the patch file you downloaded.
