I'm having the same problem on 9.10 netbook remix (on Asus EeePC). After installing cgoban from aptitude and trying to run it, it crashes with the following error immediately after selecting board size.

sfryer@ubuntu:~$ cgoban
sfryer@ubuntu:~$ X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
Serial number of failed request: 6934

GNU Go: Sorry, error from gmp client
gnugo-gmp: Error "System error." occurred.

I understand from some googling that this is a bug in Xorg, possibly related to the Intel display driver (or it's setting).
