@Luciano: Since (as I understand it) the bug is triggered when the package is installed, it seems the initial step of the test plan is important:
 $ sudo ceph mgr module ls # verify: no rook mgr module
Did you do this?

Also, testing on a PPA is insufficient for SRUs. We need the packages that we're going to be releasing to be tested - that means the packages in -proposed.
