There's been several bugs we've seen relating to failure to allocate resources with 3D and video applications, that we suspect to be XAA/EXA issues. In many of those cases, when the user switched to EXA, the problem went away (although they also often noted new little glitchy issues). At least, it's seeming to turn bad issues into mere irritations, so we're giving consideration to switching to EXA in Jaunty.
Would you mind testing if this particular issue is resolved by setting "EXA" in your xorg.conf?
