First of all, please note that Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 are no longer supported, so we no longer make any changes to those releases.

As for 10.04, with a handful exceptions (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates), we don't update software in stable releases, and we almost never do large version upgrades like this.

However, we do have the backports process (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports), which is intended for incorporating newer versions of software that might add desirable features. The requirements for backporting are simple - we simply need to verify that the package in question will successfully build, install, and run on the release to which it's being backported, and I can help with that.

I'm going to convert this bug into a backports bug for Lucid. Please indicate whether you want 1.06-1 or 1.09-1 backported. If you want to backport 1.09-1, we'll run into two issues:

First, the backports process only allows for backporting packages which are already in some version of Ubuntu, so we would have to wait until 1.09-1 is synced from Debian to Ubuntu Oneiric (which should only take a few days)

Second, in order to make sure that release upgrades work correctly with backports turned on, if we backport 1.09-1, we will also need to backport it to maverick and natty. Those releases will also have to be tested, not just Lucid, so depending on the resources you have to test, that may be prohibitive.

Given those caveats, please indicate which version of cciss-vol-status you would like backported, and we can move forward.
