The long delay still exists in impish (on some devices only).

Delay occurs regardless of ISO being written using mkusb, dd, or gnome-disks..

It would be nice if something could be shown on screen, the fact that the OP of this bug report originally wrote that the issue wasn't that it took ages, but failed to boot - highlights some don't wait long enough...

I wait 30-60mins in QA-testing & just comment the time in the iso.qa.ubu report (when I consider excessive), which is longer than I suspect end-users would expect/accept..
