When testing Lubuntu Noble daily ISO dated 04-01-2024 took a further look at this and noticed that if you select for example English (Tuvalu) or English (Uganda) after confirm the system again shows English (United States) however if the user selects English (Australia) or English (South Africa) then the selected language shows after the confirmation.

It appears that one of the problems is that there are listed many selections for English that in reality do not exist i.e English(Slovenia).
