If you consider that your fix is mature and ready for intrepid, can you ask Till Kamppeter to review and upload your changes to intrepid? The Release candidate approach so we should not miss the train, not after all the work you've done ;) .

Also in your final fix, can you remove csh dependency? I attach a debdiff so you can easily apply the changes to your work.
