I am inclined to agree with Seb Bonnard (sebma) as above, this bug concerns the broadcom-sta-dkms package, not the bcmwl-kernel-source package.
My computer is running Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr), and the wireless functions with the bcmwl-kernel-source package installed as an alternative driver. This bug occurred when I installed the broadcom-sta-dkms as an additional driver. I am not sure why, but I assume the broadcom-sta-dkms is not compatible with my system, so I will be removing it.
