Bug Description

The Quake Catcher Network Sensor project application keeps failing under this version of BOINC.

The project administrator provided this:

they're always failing with a bad segfault as you can see in your task lists e.g.:

I imagine it's some incompatibility with your 64-bit-to-32-bit library, or maybe there is a bug in that boinc version (it bombs out on a "strcat" so maybe something is concatenating a string too long for some variable)

Obtaining 7.0.25 binaries from boinc.berkeley.edu has fixed this problem.

Will this bug get fixed in 12.04LTS release or not?

So, this bug in 12.04LTS Beta won't ever get fixed in 12.04LTS....does that mean I should stay at 10.04LTS until 14.04LTS comes out?

I repeat, please try boinc from this ppa https://code.launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/boinc

the new version should fix this problem, and a SRU is already pending from quantal to precise.

Please test the package from https://launchpad.net/~pkg-boinc/+archive/testing instead - this will be the package to get into 12.04 most likely - at least it is pending for SRU currently.
It might be desired to get a more recent version instead - but please test if that issue is fixed with 7.0.27 already.

I am marking this as duplicate of bug 991179 - as suggested in Dave's comment.
