Krister, as this bug is reproducible while using the proprietary bcmwl driver, this wouldn't be a bug to pursue in linux (Ubuntu).

Hence, could you please provide the missing information 4. through 8. from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx#Broadcom_STA_Wireless_driver ?
