Ingo, you asked upstream why the Library Watcher is enabled by default, given the number and severity of problems associated with it. I'm fairly certain that normally Banshee ships with the Library Watcher off, but Ubuntu made the decision to turn it on by default. I've filed a bug report here on Launchpad requesting that this extension be turned off before the final version of Natty is released: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/760902
