This is really strange. Have you checked if /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so exists?
If it does, please run:

strace -e trace=open banshee 2>&1 | grep libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0\"

And post the output here

  affects ubuntu/banshee
  status incomplete
