Hmm, actually it doesn't appear to be a problem with x11-common specifically; according to VarLogDistupgradeMainlog it started running into errors before it got to x11-common. Guess it picked x11-common because that was the last error in the list.

Looks like you have multiple partitions, you sure they all have adequate free space and are mounted read/write? I can't tell from the logs.
