While in KDE, I have determined that applications started by the session(I log out with Kopete and Konsole open, I log back in, the applications I had last open restart(Kopete and Konsole)) no longer have the attribute which bamf can pick up for the .desktop
Also, If I start something like Qalculate, it can find it. Here is part of the output of a small program Boulabiar created that I used

** (process:785): DEBUG: Konsole
** (process:785): DEBUG: current file /usr/share/applications/qalculate_kde.desktop
** (process:785): DEBUG: Qalculate!
the "current file" appears for the .desktop file on every application started by the session.
