In /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf , there I had dbname = "bacula;" , but it should be dbname = "bacula"; . This drove me crazy trying to figure out why the director couldn't connect to MySQL, and then I found this small config issue. I don't know if this is just a glitch on my computer or the package on the server is faulty.
