Yepper, I'd like to make the FFmpeg lib detection much simpler as well. I'll

HAHAHA...that's funny! I didn't even notice that, so I guess there is some
truth to the "3 - 4 times" speed difference.

I thought the same thing. I wouldn't expect them to be THAT different. Maybe
a little, but not that much. I just tried it on the Mac and it was within a
second or two.

Unfortunately, we still need to explain it since, at least on the Mac, Audacity
built without the 0.6.1 support patch imports those mono files as mono. :-(
I've banged my head against the wall on this several times now and haven't
figured out why. But, I haven't given up yet.
