I was facing this problem in Ubuntu 14.04 and Audacity 2.0.5 but fix given at #14 solved it.
Run in terminal
sudo sed -i 's/^Exec=.*/Exec=env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 audacity %U/' /usr/share/applications/audacity.desktop
