Is it possible for people that affected by this issue, check game built from sources ( https://github.com/viewizard/astromenace#build )? I am interested, did we already fixed this issue in upstream or not, since all fs-related code was refactored.

So do I. I even tried to reproduce this bug in Ubuntu in VirtualBox. Package was installed without any issues.

@viewizard Could this be a hardware problem?

For example, in Bug #1762058 I see interesting log:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/363701738/ProcCpuinfoMinimal.txt

Personally I have tried this game only in Intel CPUs + Intel and/or NVIDIA video cards.

Sure, this may be some kind of hardware issue. But not video card issue for sure, since we don't use video card (hardware/software) in any way during game data file creation (don't even init libSDL at all).

I am just worry, why so many people faced with same issue. For now my main assumption is a bug in code.
