Bug Description
Binary package hint: software-center
If Software Center is currently downloading packages and I attempt to watch a movie it will spew a confusing "There is another synaptic running" error message.
What should happen is that Software Center should act as though I just manually selected codecs to be installed from within Software Center itself, and then Software Center should be brought to the foreground to make it clear where the installation progress is.
The same thing applies to apturl or any other program that would install a package.

Opening Ubuntu Software Center temporarily is not an appropriate way to display installation progress of things like codecs, plug-ins, and so on. USC's window is very big, it has lots of clickable elements, it has a close button, and so on. The appropriate interface for installing a codec would be *something like* a small progress window, with a "Cancel" button but nothing else clickable. ubufox has the same requirement (bug 634915), so maybe it should be part of aptdaemon.
The claim that "There is another synaptic running" is bug 74134.
