You can always run the following commands to remove the .save and .distUpgrade files temporarily but they seem to be created again rather quickly.

cd /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
sudo rm *.save
sudo rm *.distUpgrade

If this bug isn't fixed there might be a lot of confusion when people update for the first time after upgrading from Lucid to Maverick...
