I have verified that selecting the "only free software" in the daily alternative iso snapshot (20080617, i386) uses only main from the cd source in /target/etc/apt/sources.list during the install, linux-image-generic is the kernel that gets installed and not linux-generic, and that the hardy-security line in the installed sources.list does not include restricted.
I have not reverified the daily-live cd image. I didn't notice any regressions in the installation process, but didn't exercise it very heavily.
