Bug Description

Binary package hint: apport

Apport drives me crazy as an upstream developer and package maintainer when the logs it attaches are in the native language of the reporter.

I understand that the reporter should see their error messages in their own native locale, but bug reports titled or logged in other languages are very difficult for me to deal with.

Perhaps this is a Launchpad wishlist item, as it might have the wherewithall to dynamically translate bug reports, but Babelfish isn't cutting it.

Right, but there's nothing to do about this problem in the Launchpad bug tracker itself.

Since Launchpad has access to so many translations in its databases, I thought it might be able to process these error logs in a way that I can work with them as a developer.

If Launchpad doesn't want to solve this problem, will Apport?

Apport only collect logs in this case, so Dpkg and others Debian tools should use LANG=C when generating the reports.
