amtterm errors out with "amtterm: ERROR: redir_data: unknown r->buf 0x29"

Bug Description

 amtterm disconnects with the following error.
 amtterm: RUN_SOL -> ERROR (failure)
 amtterm: ERROR: redir_data: unknown r->buf 0x29

This is the result of amtterm not being able to handle the 0x29 control character.
