I've tested new package. Result: first restart reported fail, second went ok:

psycho@mindthunder:~/Desktop/Downloads$ sudo service alsa-utils restart
 * Shutting down ALSA... [fail]
 * Setting up ALSA... [ OK ]
psycho@mindthunder:~/Desktop/Downloads$ sudo service alsa-utils restart
 * Shutting down ALSA... [ OK ]
 * Setting up ALSA... [ OK ]

channels were preserved.
