Bug Description

Ubuntu 10.10 x64 on Samsung R720 (Subsystem ID: 0x144dc051).
I have the similar problem with alsa as in 611803 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/611803 ).
I've used hda_analyzer tool and figured out that subw pin is 17.

Hope that help.

My guess is that fix is exactly as in ( http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-kernel.git;a=commitdiff;h=d41185882b828896ccecac319c9f65f708baaf0d;hp=4cb36310848fd17766aa72afd1f2873f54b4e055 )
Just need new line with the right subsystem ID in alc662_fixup_tbl structure.

Hello,

I've installed latest alsa-driver from Ubuntu Audio Dev PPA and all works like it should now.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Accepted into maverick-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed' to 'verification-done'.

If verification is not done by one week from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

Hi,

I've installed (Ubuntu 2.6.35-25.43-generic 2.6.35.10) kernel from -proposed, but unfortunately radeon driver introduced some nasty bugs in it. I can't use it for test or anything as my screen is now more or less a random colored pixels. You could find details in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=664206.

Anyway, I've managed to start a preview on audio file and it seems that kernel fix isn't working for some reason (I can see same strange story in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/611803). In the same time, I'm positive that it works fine from Ubuntu Audio Dev PPA.

I can't give any additional details because of aforementioned video problem, can't even check audio preferences...

This patch was applied to Maverick as part of an upstream stable update, therefore it doesn't require individual verification.
