I am also experiencing a crackling noise when I reboot on Lucid, but I'm using an HP Pavilion DV6. I imagine the cause is similar or the same, though. Or should I make a separate bug report?

Here's some more info about my system:

$ uname -m
x86_64

$ uname -r
2.6.32-23-generic

$ lspci | grep Audio
