probably you should read the patch description carefully. I've changed this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor thinkpad_acpi.brightness_enable=0"
in /etc/default/grub.

After update it works on my Lenovo Z360.
