Sorry, I got that wrong. When running "pasuspender -- speaker-test
-Dplughw:SB -c2 -twav" the three hp options and the auto option stall at the
first "0 - Front Left" displayed in console and don't get any further.

The others run the speaker-test command normally, but as I have already
said, they don't result in any sound (other than the "test" option, which
produces output from the mic jack).
